How to use PDF to Audio
- Press Select PDF file – or press Type / paste text instead.
- Choose the pages, check the text and pick a voice. Press Hear this voice to try it.
- Press Create audio, then play it or download the MP3.
Two ways to listen
- AI voices are neural voices that run inside your browser. They sound close to a real narrator, read English, and let you download the audio as MP3 or WAV. The first time, the voices (about 90 MB) are downloaded once and kept by your browser for next time.
- Device voices are the voices that come with your phone or computer. They start instantly and many devices have Urdu, Hindi, Arabic and dozens of other languages, but browsers only let you listen to them – they cannot be saved as a file.
Tips for the best audiobook
- Choose a page range to skip the cover, contents and index.
- Read through the text box and delete anything you do not want to hear, such as references or footnotes.
- For a long book, make one chapter at a time – each file is ready sooner and is easier to find on your phone.
- Scanned books are pictures, not text. Run OCR PDF first, then open the new PDF here.
How fast is it?
On a modern computer with the graphics card option, an hour of audio usually takes a few minutes. Phones and older computers are slower, so keep the page open while it works – you can press Stop at any time and keep the part that is ready.
About the voices
The AI voices come from Kokoro, an open-source speech model released under the Apache 2.0 licence, so the audio you make is yours to use – for study, accessibility, personal listening and your own projects.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes – free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.
Which languages do the AI voices speak?
English, with American and British accents. For Urdu, Arabic, Hindi and other languages use Device voices to listen.
Is there a page or length limit?
No fixed limit. Very long books take longer, so making one chapter at a time is recommended.
Can I use the MP3 on YouTube or in my videos?
The voice model is open source (Apache 2.0), so you can use the audio you make. Make sure you also have the right to use the text you read – for example your own writing or public-domain books.
Why is the first start slower?
The AI voices are downloaded once (about 90 MB). After that your browser keeps them and they start much faster.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file is opened and converted inside your browser on your own phone or computer and is never sent to our server.
