How to use PDF to Text

  1. Press Select PDF file and choose your PDF.
  2. Pick the pages you want (or leave it empty for all) and press Extract text.
  3. Press Copy text to copy everything, or Download .txt to save it.

Paste the text into Notepad or any app

After extracting, the full text appears in a box you can scroll and edit. Press Copy text and paste it into Notepad, Word, Google Docs, WhatsApp, an email or a website form. On a phone, the copied text can go straight into your notes app.

Too long to paste in one go?

Some websites only accept a limited number of characters, for example a YouTube description or a translation box. Press Split this text into parts to open our Text Splitter, which cuts the text into parts that each end at a full stop.

What about scanned PDFs?

A scanned PDF is a set of photos of paper pages. The words are part of the picture, so there is no text to extract. If the tool tells you a page has no text, the page is most likely a scan.

Frequently asked questions

Is PDF to Text free?
Yes. It is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. You can copy the text with one tap or save it as a TXT file.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The text is read inside your own browser, so the PDF never leaves your phone or computer.
Will the line breaks stay the same?
Lines and paragraphs are rebuilt from the positions of the words, so normal documents come out neatly. Pages with several columns or complex tables may need a little tidying after copying.
Can I copy Urdu, Hindi or Arabic text?
Yes, as long as the PDF contains real text. Some older PDFs use special fonts that store letters in an unusual way; then the copied text looks wrong and the only fix is to read the page with OCR.
Why is the result empty?
The PDF is probably a scan or a photo, which contains pictures instead of letters. Run it through OCR PDF first, or use Image to Text on the page images.
How do I open the TXT file?
Tap the downloaded file. On Windows it opens in Notepad, on a Mac in TextEdit and on a phone in any text, notes or Files app.
