How to use Book Translator

  1. Press Select file and choose your book or manuscript (PDF, DOCX or EPUB) – or paste text into the box.
  2. Choose the language it is in (or “Detect language”) and the language you want.
  3. Press Translate, check the preview and download your translated book.

Made for authors

Upload your manuscript as a Word (.docx) file or your e-book as EPUB and you get back the same file in the new language, ready to review. Chapters, headings, scene breaks, pictures and the table of contents stay where they were. A PDF book can be translated too – choose Word output if you want to edit it afterwards.

Before you publish

Machine translation gives you a strong first draft in minutes. If you plan to publish the translation on Amazon KDP or elsewhere, ask a native speaker to edit it – dialogue, idioms and humour often need a human touch.

Tips for the best translation

Frequently asked questions

Is it free?
Yes – free with no watermark – you only need a free account. A fair daily limit applies on phones and non-Chrome browsers; in Google Chrome on a computer you can translate as much as you like.
Which languages are supported?
More than 100 languages, including English, Urdu, Arabic, Hindi, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Choose “Detect language” and the original language is found for you.
How long does a whole book take?
A 300-page novel usually takes a few minutes in Chrome on a computer. Keep the page open while it works.
Can I translate an EPUB e-book?
Yes. Upload the .epub file and you get a translated .epub back with the same chapters, styles and cover.
How good is the translation?
It is machine translation – great for understanding a document, sharing a draft or preparing a first version. For contracts, medical papers or a book you will publish, have a fluent speaker check the result before you use it.
Is my document uploaded?
Your file itself is opened and rebuilt on your own device. In Google Chrome on a computer the translation also happens on your device. On other browsers and phones only the words that need translating are sent securely to our translation service and are not kept with your name or file; the finished file is made on your device.
Why do I need an account?
This tool uses AI or online services that cost us money to run. A free account (name and e-mail, confirmed with a short code) keeps it fair for everyone. Most of our other tools work without an account.
