How to use Repair PDF
- Press Select damaged PDF.
- Press Repair PDF.
- Download the repaired copy – your original is not changed.
Two repair steps
- Rebuild: the PDF is read in a forgiving way, every page is copied into a fresh, clean file and saved with a new structure. Text, pictures and links stay.
- Rescue: if the structure is too damaged, every page that can still be displayed is saved as a high-quality picture in a new PDF.
A file that was only partly downloaded may be missing its last pages – in that case download it again if you can.
Signs of a damaged PDF
- “The file is damaged and could not be repaired” in Adobe Reader.
- Blank or missing pages, or the file opens in one app but not another.
- The download or email attachment stopped before it finished.
Tips
- Always try the original file again first – download it once more or ask the sender to resend it.
- If text is still missing after repair, the content may not be in the file at all – a scanned copy run through OCR PDF may be the best way back.
- A file that is not a PDF at all (for example a Word file renamed to .pdf) cannot be repaired – convert it with Word to PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes – free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.
Can every PDF be repaired?
Not always. If the data itself is missing (for example a download that stopped halfway), only the pages that exist can be rescued.
Is my original file changed?
No. You get a new file called “…_repaired.pdf”.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file is opened and converted inside your browser on your own phone or computer and is never sent to our server.
