How to use Remove Background
- Press Select image.
- Keep AI – best quality selected and press Remove background.
- Fix any spot with the Keep and Erase brushes, choose a background and download.
How it works
An open AI model (ormbg, Apache 2.0) runs inside your browser and finds the subject. The edge is then refined against the full-size photo, so hair, fur and thin parts follow the real picture, and background colour that shines through soft edges is removed. The first time, your browser downloads the model (about 45 MB); after that it is kept in your browser and works much faster. Your picture itself is never uploaded.
Best results
- Use a sharp, well-lit photo – the clearer the subject, the cleaner the edge.
- For pictures with a plain background, the Quick mode works without any download.
- If a small part is missed, paint over it with the Keep brush; remove leftovers with Erase.
Ideas
Make product photos for an online shop, a profile picture with a coloured background, a transparent logo for a watermark, or a clean signature for Sign PDF.
