Why pages come out sideways

Scanners and phone scanning apps often save landscape pages sideways. Rotating them makes the document easy to read on screen and prints the right way.

Rotate one page or all pages

Click the small turn button on a single page to rotate only that page, or use the buttons above the pages to turn every page left or right. Portrait and landscape pages can be mixed in one document – each page keeps the direction you give it.

Why does my PDF still look sideways in some apps?

The rotation is saved in the PDF itself, so Adobe Reader, Chrome, Edge, Preview, WhatsApp and phone viewers all show it the right way. If an old program still shows it sideways, re-open the downloaded file instead of the original.
If the text inside a scan is upside down but the page shape is right, rotate by 180°.

How do I rotate only one page of a PDF?

Press the ↻ button on that page’s thumbnail until it faces the right way, then press Apply changes. All other pages stay as they are.

Can I rotate all pages at once?

Yes. Use the “Rotate all” buttons to turn every page left or right in one step – handy for scans that came out sideways.

Is the rotation permanent?

Yes. The downloaded PDF opens with the new direction in every reader, including Adobe Reader, Chrome and phone PDF viewers.

Does rotating reduce quality?

No. Only the page direction is changed; text, pictures and links stay exactly the same.

Can I rotate a password-protected PDF?

If the PDF needs a password to open, remove it first with Unlock PDF, then rotate the unlocked copy.
